Characters: Bigby, Snow & Fabletown

Meet Bigby Wolf, Snow White, and the residents of Fabletown with a spoiler-light guide to relationships, glamours, and the Farm.

Who are the people of Fabletown?

The story follows familiar fairy-tale figures after exile has brought them into the ordinary human world. Fabletown is their hidden community in New York. The official original-game description places the story before the first issue of the Fables comics, so you do not need to read the comics before starting.

Original-game character reference; remaster-specific dialogue verification pending. The new edition includes the five-episode season. The edition comparison covers confirmed presentation and bonus features. This page avoids late-episode deaths, the culprit, and the ending’s identity question.

Who is Bigby Wolf?

Bigby is the Big Bad Wolf and Fabletown’s sheriff. He investigates crimes, enforces community rules, and tries to live with a reputation built long before the opening scene. His human appearance does not mean the other residents have forgotten what he is capable of.

That tension makes his dialogue choices meaningful even when they lead to the same next location. A resident may comply because they trust the sheriff, because they fear the wolf, or because they have no better option. The major choices guide explains which decisions alter scenes and which mainly define Bigby’s conduct.

What does Snow White do?

Snow works in Fabletown’s administration under Deputy Mayor Ichabod Crane. She understands the bureaucratic side of a community that Bigby often encounters through violence and disputes. She is a major investigative partner, but she also has her own responsibilities and judgment.

Avoid treating her as an approval meter to be maximized with one correct answer in every conversation. Disagreements about protection, evidence, rules, and resources are part of the story. Agreeing with Snow in a moment does not give Bigby direct control over every administrative outcome later.

Who runs the office and the Woodlands?

Ichabod Crane is the deputy mayor and Snow’s superior. He represents institutional authority at the beginning of the case. Bufkin is the winged monkey working around the office’s books and magical objects; his help with research is valuable when a face or symbol needs identification. The Magic Mirror is a source of information with limits, rather than an unrestricted answer engine.

Dr. Swineheart provides medical treatment. Bluebeard is wealthy, forceful, and willing to involve himself in the investigation. Their roles are different: a person being prominent or intimidating does not by itself establish their responsibility for the murders.

Who are Beauty, Beast, Colin, and Toad?

Beauty and Beast live in the Woodlands. Their relationship has survived the move into this world, but financial and personal pressures remain. Their fairy-tale names do not mean their life is comfortable or simple.

Colin, one of the Three Little Pigs, is connected to Bigby’s past and regularly strains the sheriff’s willingness to enforce rules against a friend. Mr. Toad and his son TJ live outside the Woodlands. Toad’s difficulty affording a glamour brings the cost of secrecy into the opening episode.

A glamour lets a non-human-looking Fable pass as human. Residents who cannot maintain that appearance are subject to being sent to the Farm, away from ordinary human eyes. That makes glamour policy an economic issue as well as a magical one: enforcing the same rule can impose very different burdens on rich and poor residents.

Who appears around the investigation’s early leads?

Faith is the woman Bigby encounters during the opening disturbance. The Woodsman is tied to the wolf’s old story and is involved in that confrontation. Prince Lawrence is connected to Faith and becomes an early investigative lead. The Faith walkthrough explains why the order in which you visit people matters.

Holly runs the Trip Trap bar; Gren is a regular closely connected to its community. Lily is Holly’s sister. Georgie runs the Pudding and Pie, where Nerissa and Vivian become important to the investigation. Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum act as hired muscle and investigators whose involvement complicates Bigby’s work. Later introductions are best left to the episode routes so their connections arrive with the evidence.

What sources establish this background?

The original Steam description establishes Bigby, the Fables setting, and the pre-comic chronology. Gamepressure’s full-season guide documents the characters’ roles in the investigation. The release platform page helps new players choose an edition without confusing the original game with its sequel.
